South Dakota approved medical cannabis in 2020 (IM 26). Patients may possess up to 3 oz. Recreational also passed (Amendment A) but was struck down by state supreme court. RECREATIONAL ILLEGAL: Possession under 2 oz is Class 1 misdemeanor (up to 1 year, $2000 fine). Over 2 oz is felony. Distribution is felony. SDCL §34-20G.
