Alaska allows recreational cannabis for 21+. One ounce possession limit, home cultivation up to 6 plants. No public consumption. DUI threshold 5 ng/ml.

Alaska legalized recreational cannabis in 2014 (Ballot Measure 2), effective February 2015. Adults 21+ may possess up to 1 oz and cultivate up to 6 plants (3 mature) at home. THE PROBLEM WITH THC TESTING

CANNABIS TRANSPORT RULES

FEDERAL LAW - NO INTERSTATE TRANSPORT
CRITICAL: Transporting cannabis across state lines is a federal crime regardless of legality in either state.

This includes:
• Driving from one legal state to another
• Flying (TSA is federal)
• Trains (Amtrak is federal)
• Buses crossing state lines
• Mail/shipping (USPS, UPS, FedEx)

WITHIN ALASKA
Legal transport if:

• Sealed in original dispensary packaging
• In trunk or locked container
• Not accessible to driver
• Within possession limits
• 21+ (or valid medical card)

FLYING WITH CANNABIS
DO NOT fly with cannabis even within legal states:
• TSA is federal law enforcement
• All airports are under federal jurisdiction
• Discovery leads to federal prosecution or local police referral

RENTAL CARS
All major rental companies prohibit cannabis:
• Violation of rental agreement
• May result in cleaning fees
• Could lose membership/privileges

WHAT IF STOPPED?
If pulled over:
• Keep cannabis in trunk/sealed container
• Do not consent to searches (know your rights)
• Be honest with officers
• Have dispensary receipts available

BORDER STATES
Extra caution near state borders:
• Some police specifically patrol for interstate transport
• Drug dogs may be present at state lines
• Federal charges more likely

SMOKING VS OTHER METHODS
Even where legal, some restrictions apply to smoking specifically:
• Smoke-free housing policies
• No smoking in multi-unit buildings (some states)
• Edibles/vapes may have fewer restrictions
