Prohibited Places - Narrow List After 2025 Repeal Gun Free Zones Act

Wyoming (W.S. 6-8-104(t), as amended by the Wyoming Repeal Gun Free Zones Act, Laws 2025 ch. 61): lawful concealed carriers may NOT carry in facilities used primarily for law enforcement without the chief administrator's written consent, detention facilities/prisons/jails, courtrooms (the judge controls courtroom carry), the portion of a bar or restaurant primarily devoted to dispensing alcohol for on-premises consumption, K-12 school facilities IF the carrier is an enrolled student, or anywhere federal or state law prohibits; the former bans on governmental meetings, legislative meetings, school athletic events, and college facilities were REPEALED in 2025 -- W.S. 6-8-105 now affirmatively authorizes lawful concealed carriers in government meetings, the Legislature, public buildings, and non-federal airport areas, and Wyoming-permit holders additionally in public K-12 schools, public colleges, and alcohol-free school athletic events, EXCEPT state-operated health and human-services facilities and facilities with explosive materials (6-8-105(d)); school districts may adopt storage/training rules for employees and volunteers (6-8-105(f)); private owners may still exclude firearms, and governmental entities may prohibit OPEN carry in their facilities (6-8-105(d)(ii)-(iii)).

Wyoming: No duty to volunteer that you are armed; a Wyoming permittee must carry the permit with valid identification while carrying concealed and display both upon any peace officer's request (Wyo. Stat. § 6-8-104(b)), while eligible U.S. residents carrying under Wyoming's permitless-carry provision (§ 6-8-104(a)(iv), extended beyond Wyoming residents in 2021) have no display or notification duty.
